Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetes has become a common disease due to stress, sedentary lifestyle & poor eating habits. There has been a marked increase in the incidence of diabetic retinopathy in our country. This condition leads to swelling, bleeding & loss of vision. The only way to manage this is through regular detailed retina examinations & further investigations or laser treatment if needed, besides good control of the diabetes.

• At Lobo Eye Clinic we offer detailed retinal examination by our retina specialist  & serial digital photography of the retina to monitor diabetic retinopathy.
• OCT imaging of the retina with our 3D OCT Maestro from Topcon, Japan allows microscopic scanning of the retina & macula for diagnosis & treatment of diabetic retinopathy
• The OPTOS wide field laser scanning ophthalmoscope has revolutionized the way we diagnose and treat retinal diseases. A quick and easy scan of the entire retina can be done in seconds for diagnosis and follow up of retinopathy.
• Digital fluorescein angiography is done on our digital fundus camera.
• Green Laser photocoagulation can control swelling & bleeding if needed.
• In advanced cases we offer surgical management like intravitreal Lucentis or Accentrix, Avastin, Eylea, micro incision 23 G vitrectomy, Endo laser, membrane peeling & gas or silicone oil injections.

AMD or Age-related Macular Degeneration :

AMD is increasingly common as the life expectancy has increased.

• We offer detailed retinal examination to monitor AMD
• OCT with our 3D OCT Maestro from Topcon, Japan allows microscopic scanning of the retina & macula for diagnosis & treatment of AMD
• Photodynamic Laser treatment, intravitreal Lucentis, Accentrix or Avastin, vitrectomy, endolaser, is available.

 

Macular Holes & membranes :

Macular Holes & membranes are commoner after 60 years age or after trauma.

• Vitrectomy, membrane peeling & macular hole surgery procedures are available using micro incisions.

 

Retinal Detachment :

Retinal detachment is commoner in myopes or after trauma.

• Scleral buckling & vitrectomy, endolaser procedures are available for treatment of retinal detachment.
